Perhaps the one annual event I live for most when it comes to photography. Not only was September 11, 2001 one of the most important days of my life, I find the anniversaries to host the most beautiful man made phenomenon I have ever seen, and can continue to see. A horrible juxtaposition of remembering the terrible day of 911 with looking forward to the very magical beams of light that stretch for miles and miles into the sky; I truly pray that the city of New York will display the tribute of light for the rest of time.
Sadly, every year the beams of light, or tribute in light, provide new challenges, the past few years, the weather has been atrocious, the fog does not let you see the beams much further than a few miles away. On clear nights, the beams can be seen for 20-30 miles or more.
So each year I try to get the beams from a new location, I spend all night from dusk til dawn traveling throughout the NYC area and photographing from different vantage points.
